Greenslip is a general term for Compulsory Third Party insurance. Being compulsory, a greenslip is a legal requirement for all drivers who need to register a motor vehicle in New South Wales. Similar terms for greenslips include CTP Greenslips, CTP, CTP Insurance, green slips, green slip and greenslip insurance. CTP (Compulsory Third Party) Insurance, protects you against personal injuries you may cause to someone else in the event of a vehicle accident resulting in a personal injury claim.
It’s important to note that your greenslip does not cover any damage to other vehicles or to your vehicle, damage to property, nor does your greenslip cover theft. These are incidents that require insurance obtained through different policies which you should consider taking out. Details of how the CTP greenslip scheme works and what your greenslip does and does not cover, are included throughout this website.
Simply stated, a CTP Green Slip Certificate will automatically give you peace of mind and protection, should anything unforeseen happen to you on the road. However, if you don’t have a Green Slip, you will not be allowed to register or drive a motor vehicle in the state of NSW. It is compulsory and a non-negotiable requirement by law.
If you want to compare CTP Greenslip prices from all 6 insurers and find the cheapest greenslip for your vehicle, we have a Greenslip Calculator which allows you to do so. This calculator is currently only able to provide quotes for common light vehicles up to 4.5 tonnes in gross vehicle mass (GVM).
For other vehicle types and usages such as taxies, rental vehicles, buses, trucks, taxis, etc., you may have to contact the insurers or their agents and brokers to compare prices.
